| Book Format Please use these suggested guidelines to help all of us get your book into publication as soon as possible. Our standard format is 5.25 wide x 8.25 inches tall with between 100 and 500 pages. In your WORD PROCESSING PROGRAM go to PAGE SETUP Set your PAPER SIZE to Custom 5.25 x 8.25 Set your margins to the following: Top 1.0" Bottom 1.0" Inside 1.0" Outside 1.0" Gutter 0 Header 0.5" Footer 0.5" Next format your paragraphs, to Justified and Single Spaced. Indent the first sentence of the paragraph using a TAB. And no spaces between paragraphs. You are now ready to put your book into this format. Close your existing book file. With the above described blank document open in Microsoft Word got to the top tool bar, to the right of File, Edit and VIEW you will see INSERT. Click INSERT then FILE. The window will then open that should contain you existing book file. Select your book and click INSERT. You now have your book in the correct basic format. For Word Processing programs other than Microsoft Word please consult your program HELP to achieve the same results and make sure to save it in RTF(Rich Text File) format. If your book is in separate files per chapter you must INSERT Chapter One then place the cursor at the END of Chapter One and then INSERT Chapter Two and so on. Body Text should be set to 10 pt Times New Roman text font and the first letter of the BODY TEXT of every chapter is a capital letter. This is only a recommendation. If your skill level does not enable you to adhere to this option that will be fully acceptable. Page Numbers should be positioned "Bottom of page (Footer)" or "Top of page (Header)" and Alignment "OUTSIDE." Chapter Titles and/or Sections are in 12 pt. BOLD font (i.e., Chapter 1, etc.) and are CENTERED. Each chapter should begin on its own right-hand page. Odd-numbered pages are right-hand pages; even-numbered pages are left-hand pages. At the end of each chapter, add a blank if it falls on an odd-numbered page so the next chapter falls also on an odd-numbered/right-hand page. We only suggest the right hand page chapter starts. If you find it too difficult to gain this desired effect that is totally acceptable. If you have a Table of Contents, please double check the page numbers with the contents location once the book is properly formatted. If you have an About the Author section it should be on a left facing page after the last page of text. If you have Footnotes they may be a problem in some cases. If in doubt please use end notes. |
