2 Mallets |
| Karin Sprague...In 1991 Karin cut her first letter in stone using a mallet and chisel. Echoing the words of Pablo Naruda, she recalls her experience: "Something ignited in my soul." Surrounded by quiet woods, Karin lives with her husband, three children, and two cats in a simple stone cottage. Tracy Mahaffey...Sculpture, particularly relief carving, has always given Tracy goosebumps. Her greatest teachers have been coins and old New England slate headstones. "A lot of my personal inspiration comes from living a simple life, being awake, and surrounding myself with family, friends, and critters." |

The Gravestone Girls |
| Over twenty-five years ago, The Gravestone Girls began producing Gravestone Art by rubbing gravestones. To further capture the unique three-dimensional art on these old tombstones, they perfected a casting technique which replicates the original gravestone carving. They use these artistic images to create wall hangings, jewelry, magnets, and other interior and architectural pieces. The merchandise is derived from 17th, 18th and 19th century gravestones found in cemeteries throughout the New England region. All items are formed and finished by hand through a process specifically developed by The Gravestone Girls. The following pieces will be sent in black unless you click on the picture and choose a different color. Please choose a UPS shipping option when ordering. Thank you. |
